چکیده
Abstract An air-supplement plasma synthetic jet (PSJ) actuator increases the air supplemental volume in recovery stage and improves energy by attaching a check valve to chamber of conventional actuator. To explore flow control effect mechanism actuator, via particle image velocimetry experiments low-speed wind tunnel, field boundary layer characteristics two-dimensional airfoil surface under different actuation states were compared for attack angles orifices. The experimental results show that, with state, PSJ is higher indirect mixing counter-vortex sequence produced jet-mainstream interaction stronger. Furthermore, better, which can further suppress separation improve critical angle. Moreover, increasing momentum coefficient enhance effect. findings this study could provide guidance application PSJs.

Optimization of a synthetic jet actuator for flow control around an airfoil
This paper deals with the optimization of a synthetic jet actuator parameters in the control flow around the NACA0015 airfoil at two angles of attack: 13° (i.e. the stall angle of NACA0015) and 16° (i.e. the post stall angle of NACA0015) to maximize the aerodynamic performance of the airfoil. Synthetic jet actuator is a zero mass flux-active flow control device that alternately injects and remo...
متن کاملActive control of flow separation over an airfoil using synthetic jets
We perform large-eddy simulation of turbulent flow separation over an airfoil and evaluate the effectiveness of synthetic jets as a separation control technique. The flow configuration consists of flow over an NACA 0015 airfoil at Reynolds number of 896,000 based on the airfoil chord length and freestream velocity. A small slot across the entire span connected to a cavity inside the airfoil is ...
متن کاملAn Experimental Study of the Laminar Flow Separation on a Low-Reynolds-Number Airfoil
An experimental study was conducted to characterize the transient behavior of laminar flow separation on a NASA low-speed GA (W)-1 airfoil at the chord Reynolds number of 70,000. In addition to measuring the surface pressure distribution around the airfoil, a high-resolution particle image velocimetry (PIV) system was used to make detailed flow field measurements to quantify the evolution of un...
